About Department

AN OVERVIEW

The Department of Ophthalmology is a clinical department with various responsibilities encompassing teaching, training, providing community service and conducting scientific research. In addition to participating in the teaching of the MBBS Program, the faculty members are also involved with the teaching and training activities of post graduates in Residency program of the Saudi Board of ophthalmology under the purview of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties (SCFHS).

 VISION, MISSION AND GOALS

VISION: Achieving local, regional, and international excellence in the field of ophthalmology through leadership in medical education, medical care, and scientific research.

MISSION:

To propagate knowledge about Ophthalmology and conduct scientific research in relevant areas in accordance with the general mission of College of Medicine and King Khalid University.

GOALS:

  1. Teach students of medicine the core knowledge of Ophthalmology with an emphasis on how they can be applied in the real practice of medicine.
  2. Support faculty research activities
  3. Promote regional and international collaborations
  4. Publish research results and participate in scientific conferences
