About Department

 

OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of obstetrics and gynecology started with the establishment of the College of Medicine in the year 1980 [1400H]. Since then, the department has been teaching obstetrics and gynecology to the MBBS program medical students. 

 VISION: 

To become a center of excellence in spreading the concepts of obstetrics and gynecology through teaching and scientific research.

MISSION: 

 To propagate knowledge about obstetrics and gynecology and conduct scientific research in relevant areas in accordance with the general mission of College of Medicine and King Khalid University. 

GOALS:

  1. Teach students of medicine the core knowledge of obstetrics and gynecology with an emphasis on how they can be applied in the real practice of medicine.
  2.  Provide students with clinical skills through clinical teaching at hospitals and laboratories.
  3. Support faculty research activities and promote regional and international collaborations
  4. Publish research results and participate in scientific conferences

Faculty members in the department conduct a wide range of scientific research.

Research areas and projects:

Most of the research activities in the department are focused on studying different areas of obstetrics and gynecology and related sciences. Research interest of faculty members extends to include the field of medical education.
