Overview
The Department of Psychiatry is an academic unit within the College of Medicine committed to excellence in medical education, research, and scholarly activities in psychiatry.. The department contributes significantly to undergraduate medical education, academic development, and the advancement of mental health knowledge.
The department comprises qualified faculty members and academic staff whose primary goal is to deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychiatry education, support research productivity, and foster professional and ethical practice among medical students. Through structured teaching and academic collaboration, the department aims to prepare competent graduates capable of addressing mental health needs within diverse medical and community settings.

- To deliver high-quality undergraduate psychiatry education aligned with national and international standards.
- To develop core clinical, communication, ethical, and professional competencies in psychiatry among medical students.
- To promote research and scholarly activities in psychiatry and mental health among faculty and students.
- To support faculty development in teaching, assessment, research, and academic scholarship.
- To provide structured clinical training through teaching clinics and collaboration with King Khalid Medical City.
- To contribute to mental health education, awareness, and service development within the university and the community.
