Mission

The Vice Deanship for Educational Affairs and Development at the College of Medicine, King Khalid University, is committed to providing diverse academic services to students through innovative approaches and modern technologies, while fostering an outstanding educational environment that prepares distinguished physicians who can contribute effectively to their community and nation.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Vice Dean for Educational Affairs and Development oversees all educational, academic, and developmental activities within the College to ensure the quality of the educational process and the achievement of intended learning outcomes. Responsibilities include:

  1. Supervising the implementation of approved study plans and academic curricula and ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
  2. Overseeing all aspects of the educational process and monitoring the quality of teaching and learning across the College’s programs.
  3. Monitoring students’ academic performance, analyzing indicators of achievement, progression, success, and graduation, and proposing improvement initiatives.
  4. Supervising the preparation and organization of academic schedules and examination timetables and ensuring their effective implementation in accordance with approved regulations and policies.
  5. Overseeing examinations and academic assessment processes, approving related procedures, and ensuring their integrity and quality.
  6. Approving course results after verifying compliance with academic regulations and submitting them to the relevant authorities.
  7. Supervising admission, registration, transfer, credit transfer, withdrawal, deferment, and academic excuse procedures in accordance with applicable regulations.
  8. Chairing the academic committees affiliated with the Vice Deanship and overseeing their activities and implementation of recommendations.
  9. Supervising medical and non-medical excuse committees and reviewing requests in accordance with approved regulations.
  10. Overseeing academic advising and student affairs services and ensuring effective support for students.
  11. Leading curriculum and academic program development initiatives and ensuring their periodic review and updating to align with scientific advances and labor market needs.
  12. Supervising the development of teaching, learning, and assessment strategies and promoting the adoption of modern educational practices and technologies.
  13. Monitoring academic performance indicators and preparing studies and statistical reports to support decision-making.
  14. Supervising the development and maintenance of academic databases and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of academic records.
  15. Coordinating with academic departments and educational committees to ensure the integration and effectiveness of the educational process and the achievement of program objectives.
  16. Coordinating with the Deanship of Admission and Registration, the Deanship of Student Affairs, and other relevant entities regarding students’ academic matters.
  17. Coordinating with health colleges and other academic units on matters of mutual academic interest.
  18. Monitoring the implementation of academic policies and regulations and disseminating them among faculty members and students.
  19. Supervising academic activities related to faculty members, monitoring teaching performance evaluations, and supporting faculty development initiatives.
  20. Preparing periodic reports on educational activities and developmental programs and submitting them to the Dean of the College and relevant authorities.
  21. Representing the College in committees and councils related to educational affairs and academic development within and outside the University.
  22. Performing any other duties assigned within the scope of the Vice Deanship that contribute to achieving the College’s mission and strategic goals.
